Whelp: relaxation is not exactly my focus here at Heeling Sole, BUT the good news is that chemically, deep down to the cells of your body, a sense of relaxation happens with every ‘Deeper than Deep’ fascial therapy session that I do, even when it gets down to that “hurts so good” level of pressure, and especially when you are an active part of each session!

To achieve a sense of mental relaxation and escape during an appointment with me, you don’t just get to lay down and zone out. I need you to stay connected to the work with me. Just like how outdoor yoga on the bridge over railroad tracks on the Hays Street Bridge is about BEING IN THE MOMENT, or how Savasana on the concrete at Confluence Park or the Tobin Theater while people walk by or car horns beep is all about breathing through the distractions to find peace and focus, I encourage you to stay present and take notice of your body’s inner sensations during your massages.
The goal of “relaxation” is up to you by way of ESCAPISM: Escaping into your own inner awareness by paying super close attention to your body. Not delving into those thoughts buzzing around your brain. Not disassociating and floating away mentally. Disconnect from what stresses you out, and reconnect to your body. Listen to the sensations, feelings, referral patterns… whatever is happening directly under my foot and how that impacts you holistically.
I’ll provide the chill room, fresh air, great music and the good vibes, and we’ll do the hard work TOGETHER to focus on treating your soft tissue restrictions, so that YOU can enhance your own internal body awareness and heal through a mindful meditation on the internal sensations of this massage. It’s all part of the project.
The way I work with my feet is through slow moving, broad pressured, myofascial and stretch therapy techniques. My body weight and gravity allow me to maintain consistent pressure at the depth your body “kneads.” Your nervous system reacts to this big-footed pressure the same as if it were a weighted blanket. Your muscles won’t need to clench from the pokey pain of elbows and fingers – it can melt under the rounded surfaces of our warm, clean, smooth feet. Focusing on what you feel will get your mind off the day. The active movements that I guide you thru during the Structural Integration and stretch therapy sessions will help to recalibrate the GPS of your body’s perception of pain, deepen the brain-body connections that neuromuscularly inform the quality of your movement, and change your alignment. Your body is the project we are working on.
Wake up during your massage: Nap later. Lets work together to speed up your recovery time and resolve chronic pain.
The sessions that I provide are either Barefoot Structural Integration or Myofascial Barefoot Massage sessions set on the massage table or on a floor mat that incorporate Stretch Therapy. You’ll need to go through the Structural Integration work to get to the Myofascial Barefoot Massage and Stretch Therapy work – but the journey will change your body and change your life! My goal is to give you a sense of effortlessness in your movements, better awareness of how you feel inside your body, and to rehab your strains and pains into something self-manageable. This stuff only works if you are actively paying attention and not blissing out into oblivion – so lets start a project on reshaping your body together! It’ll be hard work, but worth the effort.
Our visits together will be a team project with a limited time schedule: I really only want us to meet just a 3 or 12 times over 3 months, then you are on your way with your re-energized body along a path of healing. Maybe you come back later for a tune up – or maybe that’s when we transition you to a less frequent schedule of the Myofascial Barefoot Massages I’ve been known for – but know they’ll be more informed and catered to your body’s postural and compensation patterns, so I will be working WAY more efficiently on you in the long run. When I use Structural Integration techniques, they really are longer lasting compared to a deep massage, and the new alignment awakened in your body needs to set up after we complete this series of 3 or 12 sessions, and then sink in with use over a period of time for the best results.
Appointments at Heeling Sole with Jeni shouldn’t be an endless cycle of regularly scheduled appointments where you NEED me. I don’t really enjoy working as a muscle and stress cycle babysitter or caretaker – I don’t like the co-dependancy that puts on me. I DO want to help empower you and your body’s natural healing abilities to kick into high gear and break free of past patterns that are likely causing/adding to the pain and stress. Don’t plan on seeing me weekly or monthly for the rest of your life – use appointments at Heeling Sole on a cycle, whenever you need to create a structural change to address pain or mobility issues.
